As the situation becomes a bit more serious with my endeavors in music, I've found myself more pensive than ever when it comes to the moves I take and the music I'm creating. I am aware that there is a long strenuous road ahead of me, and perhaps, I may want things to happen far sooner than they actually will. My dad told me the quote above because I was expressing the frustration I was feeling because I'm not where I want to be yet. He was right. Dreams need to be based in reality and not in a fantasy world, because they then remain in the fantasy world. Making money: takes time. Making good music: takes time. Becoming a legend: takes time. Therefore, I will remain driven and hopeful that the music I humbly make for the world will be received and loved in due time. Random Frustrations

Man, I woke up at 5:45a.m. for work this morning and the frustration of not being where I would like to be with my music just hit me. I realized at the very instant that I wouldn't mind it the least bit if I were getting up for music, but for a job which I'm not particularly thrilled about...it sucks. Now I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining, although I totally am, I feel like sometimes people need to be 100% honest and straight up say: "this shit is wack, and I wish I was elsewhere right now". Instead, we take on an almost necessary veil of complacency just to prevent ourselves from going crazy, but today I honestly felt like "fuck that".

All of this, however, does not imply that I'm not getting the work done. I'm about 10 songs deep into one project, 10 songs deep into another, working on a mixtape I'm hoping to drop in June, and performing as much as humanly possible. I also will be posting up a snippet of 2 of my new singles! Stay Tuned!

I've never had much of a problem with those who lack talent; those who squander talent, however, rouse frustrations within me that I will choose to bypass for the sake of a succinct explanation. One such person which I believe is squandering her respective talent is Beyonce Knowles. Easily one of the most incredible stage performers and entertainers of our time, as well as the best vocalist (in my earnest opinion) of our time, she has fallen victim to hackneyed impersonations of seemingly appealing "club tracks" and of poor creative direction. Although the Beyonce brand is thriving, the weakest aspect of her elaborate empire is undoubtedly her music catalogue, due to countless superfluous songs which fail at accentuating her range as a singer and fail at distinguishing her from her peers. This condition, however, did not happen as a chance occurrence, but instead is the result of various misteps in her musical career. I may not know the behind-the-scenes motion of her music making process, but various things have become increasingly evident as her new material continues to surface:

There is a crucial lack of constructive criticism surrounding her, consequently plaguing her with "Yes-men", who approve any and everything she makes, simply because she is Beyonce and it is nearly guaranteed to sell. This is also a product of her status as a titan in music, further displaying the dangers in attaining such deference amongst your peers. No one seems to be letting Beyonce know that songs like "I'm a Diva" "Single Ladies" "Freakum Dress" and "Check Up On It" are not only borderline lame, but are also quite a distance from her aspirations of achieving the same amount of respect owed to other R&B Queens such as Patti Labelle, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, etc. It would greatly benefit Beyonce if someone would provide HONEST input and let her see that her songs are mediocre at best and that she has the potential to achieve so much more than any other female in music in any period of time. She has the potential for true greatness; the kind of greatness that leads people to whisper the name in question, almost as if not to awaken a sleeping beast. At the current moment, however, she seems to only truly shines when she does renditions of songs that don't belong to her (i.e. "At Last" at the Ball for Obama's Inauguration).

Not to sound corny, but in all honesty...Jay, check up on that!

Ok...so here it goes....lol. Being that I am a Hip Hop purists, it takes a lot for me to venture anywhere outside of Hip Hop, but then again, I'm also a hardcore musician so I do whatever sounds like great music. With that being said, "I Want You To Know" is a Dance/ Techno/ Rap record I made, which will most probably be the first and last of its kind from me. I'll definitely produce records of the sort for anyone with the right offer, lol, but as far as myself goes...this is most likely it. I STILL MAKE HIP HOP MUSIC, so for everyone who thinks that this marks some sort of drastic change...relax! This is just music and I want everyone to enjoy. Im In MIAMI Bitch!

The last time I went to Miami, I picked up on something as far as their music is concerned. Sidebar: It was a great trip, but I had perhaps the WORST experience ever (!!) with Delta airlines. Long story short: my 7:55AM flight was cancelled and we were consequently rescheduled for a flight leaving at 5:30PM, which took us to ATL for a connecting flight, but then the 5:30 flight was delayed thus causing us to arrive at Atlanta at 11:15PM, only to discover that our connecting flight was leaving at 7:30 AM the next morning. A terrible moment in my life lol. Anyway...while in Miami, DJ Boy, my girlfriend, our hostess (THANKS Jennifer for showing us around!) and myself were driving to Fort Lauderdale one night, and Jen had tuned into this Dance/ Techno radio station and the music seemed to capture the moments of being in Miami perfectly. Then when we hit Ocean Drive, all you can hear is Techno music with the heaviest 808 drums and synth patterns ever. Needless to say, me being a musician and avid music lover, I fell in love with it even more than I had before, because it was a music that was not only cool to listen to...but allowed you to capture a feeling of carelessness, living life to the fullest and warm nights with soft breeze. If a Juan Luis Guerra Meringue perfectly captures the Dominican Republic for me, then this Dance music would consequently capture Miami for me.

Thus leading me to my consequent point...I made ONE dance record. Not a Hip Hop Dance record...but a DANCE/TECHNO record, because I can! lol. Me being my own producer has its perks as far as this is concerned, because I felt like having a Miami song of my own, so I grabbed my keyboard, powered up my Macbook and went to work! Now I know everyone is going to think that I'm losing my mind of that I'm trying to force something or crossover...no. I just love music and being a musician makes me feel as though there are NO BOUNDARIES. There is no use in making music, if i do not feel completely free to make whatever it is that I want to make! So on February 3, 2009, I decided to produce and record a Dance record...and I did! You guys will have it by next week! lol.

Its finally time where we're doing photoshoots and artwork for the new cd I've got coming (Jan. 2nd!) and I felt it the perfect time to let everyone in on a little secret...my mixtape will NOT be called Outer-Space. It was a Faux-Title so I can thwart the many people who like to jock my style. Its incredibly funny and coincidential how that outer-space shit became a fad when I came up with it, but hey...it happens. And great minds think alike sometimes...shout outs to Kid Cudi.

The actual title of the cd is far simpler, mainly because I'm pushing for simplicity since EVERYONE has a gimmick nowadays, and its the TRUEST thing to Dom P. I'm sure you guys will love it. BTW, don't be fooled by the Dom P imitators! These dudes don't know a damn thing about the cosmos and they damn sure ain't no prophets, but they'll all say that shit in their songs because I make it somehow cool to them. SMH. I'm just making music reflecting what I feel about myself ya'll. So the cd will definitely have many outer space references since its the mood I'm in right now...but far more incredible music beyond the concept. I'm truly focusing on my production, done mainly by myself, with some help from Alvarez, since I feel like production is a different way of expressing my emotions and ideas. Not to mention, being the incredible jazz fan that I am, I've seen Miles Davis do with a trumpet and Thelonious Monk do with a piano, what almost NO ONE can do with words.

Just expect the best from me guys...and if I don't give you the absolute best this time, trust me ill come back again! But I promise...this cd will be something else...

As most people know...I'm wrapping up the Outer-Space mixtape, which I honestly think that sonically, musically, lyrically, flow-wise and conceptually will be one of my best works. Most tracks were produced by myself, along with many additions to the beats by Alvarez (!).

Sadly...mad people swear that I'm following some sort of trend that apparently formed recently, but I didn't even know it was trendy to be an alien. Lol. I just kept hearing people tell me that my rhymes were always on some outerspace shit, thus I decided to use the idea as a motif for a mixtape, where I would make music that is out of space (catch the play on words), whether it be out of the hip hop space or music space that is now...simply something that feels new. I'm trying out a bunch of new things, therefore, I know people might be apprehensive to accept it, but I feel that most things done well and with innovation in mind, the average person won't be able to grasp as soon as the thinking man. The music, however, will soon speak for itself. I'll be unveiling the next official single "Shades Of Me" (the track I've been performing on my mini-promo tour), hopefully alongside a music video...so stay tuned! The "It's about time" Sundial was on display at the Socrates Sculpture Park from September 2006 through March 2007. Embedded in the ground were thirteen plaques that highlight important commodity and power related moments in African American history beginning with the first arrival of slaves in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619 and ending with the 2003 release of 50 Cent's "Get Rich or Die Tryin" Album. Throughout the day a shadow would be casted on each plaque. Just before noon was "1963, I have a dream". High noon was "1968, The Black Power Movement" etc. Unfortunately the plaques were removed due to damage before this image was made.

This piece was commissioned by the Socrates Sculpture Park.

Vlad Mamyshev-Monroe is a master of camouflage and likes to play as many different people as possible. If the three artists are recounting the failure of being the engine of image making in a self-focused narrative role, Mamyshev-Monroe fills a role which makes failure the fate of her life. In the 2005 video 'John and Marylin', he tells the supposedly true love story of John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe which remains shrouded in any number of conspiracy theories to this day.

Now I'm not one to think racial matters are funny...SIKE! I think that the humor with racial matters sometimes creates a necessary dialogue about race, especially in America. Race and racism has become a taboo subject and has been swept under a rug, which consequently has led people to truly believe they are not racist, simply because it isn't socially desirable to be that. Therefore, they say these racist jokes and claim that its only humor, although it is the innate mantra of humor to come from some well of truth within the individual. My President is Black

Last night, November 4th, I stepped into an alternate dimension which shattered my reality to pieces. I was raised in a United States of America where African-Americans, Hispanic Americans and any other "minority" never had a shot at anything real. Not only was this my reality, but it was ingrained in my history, that the greater goods and American dreams were reserved for others besides ourselves. I am aware that everyone who has seen anything of this election has shared their opinion on Barack Obama, but I honestly feel the need to do so myself, as hackneyed as it may seem.

I am the child of two immigrants who came from the Dominican Republic and since the moment I entered this earth, they have tried to offer me a view of this world that was not only positive, but also conducive to my growth as an individual: spiritually, academically and professionally. However, through the tumbles of real-world experiences and my 4 year attendance at a primarily white high school, Xavier High School, and another four years at Fordham University, I came to realize that perhaps things weren't so black and white as my parents portrayed them to be... but in a sense of irony were more concerned with black and white than ever before. The issues of race and the glass ceiling placed above minorities were as fervent as ever, but had entered a realm of discretion, where people claimed to be color blind and unaffected by these issues, when behind closed doors these issues were as important, divisive and disturbing as it were in 1950's-60's America. Through this experience of introverted racism, which becomes far more obvious as one becomes more learned and interacts with different people, I strongly believed that a black president was not only impossible, but also a consideration that could never be taken serious. I thank God that I've been proven wrong.

Barack Obama has made myself and countless other doubters, racists, and non-believers eat their words in the most astonishing of ways: with class and self-respect. Through one of the most impressive, intelligent and ideal-driven campaigns ("Change" & "Yes We Can"), which bordered flawlessness, Obama has proven that politicians don't necessarily have to be robotic, cold or disconnected from their audience. In fact, Obama proved that genuine interaction and seemingly honest expression can reach people on a far more personal level and encourage them to participate in their country's future and direction.

To be honest, the more I learned of the realities of America and the failed American Dreams that are housed within our shores, I began to lose the patriotism that was instilled in grammar school classrooms, with right hands placed atop bosoms, reciting an allegiance that faded with every passing day. The dire state of our nation is far from inspirational and has perhaps created a different opinion of America amongst many Americans. Obama, however, helped me regain faith in this America. His nomination alone proved that perhaps America isn't prepared to be completely broken, but is willing to heal its self-inflicted wounds and allow a Black Man to fix tears in our country's fabric.

The months leading to this historic win have demonstrated so many characteristics in our existing communities which I never thought I would see, good and bad. The negativity of some regions in White America, fueled mainly off misinformation, distortion and ignorance, which led to comments such as Obama being a "baby-killer", "fascist", "communist", "Muslim", "terrorist", "arab" and countless other non-sensical accusations, led to me to feel ashamed more than angered, simply because this election had become the talk and focus of the world, not just our country. However, the positivity also provided me with more pride and interest in this country and this man's impact than I believe I've ever experienced before. The Hip Hop community (Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Beyonce, Kevin Liles, Russell Simmons, Mary J. Blige, Ludacris,Young Jeezy, Juelz Santana, Busta Rhymes and countless others) perhaps tilted this election in a manner which still hasn't received its full credit. The Hip Hop community has done for this country and this election, what the Rock and Roll community did for Vietnam, with John Lennon asking the US to give peace a chance as he laid with his newly wedded wife Yoko Ono in bed and Bob Dylan performing concerts of peace. I've never been so proud of the Hip Hop community, because they demonstrated a sense of unity and purpose that no one can ever refute or take away from. The Hip Hop community helped involved the youth and as a result created this neo-hippie generation of far more involved and intelligent young people, (of all races), which not only realized the change that was necessary in their country, but also actively worked towards helping this change occur. The youth impressed me in a way that I would've never anticipated. So much so, that when I went to vote, 18 year old drug dealers from my community were on line to vote alongside elderly voters and single parents. Truly inspirational. Obama created a change within people that led to activity...amazing.

Barack Obama is the president elect and is going to become the 44th President of the United States. The impossible has become nearly laughable due to the landslide victory and overall glee of the nation. These events have led me to question how I will raise my children and has led me to wonder if I should indeed remind them of the ills of this country, when they will enter a totally brand new world, where a black president is commonplace. As all things that are commonplace, they will surely take it for granted and in an effort to appreciate the importance and gravity of that reality, I would be forced to remind them of the African American and overall minority plight in this country and the history of this country's terrible mistreatment of African Americans. Also, that terrible history serves as additional testimony to the greatness of this man's meteoric and inspirational rise. A new world is upon us whether we are ready or not, although I strongly believe we are, and we are in for the most unprecedented ride our lives and I am incredibly anxious to see the results that Obama will begin to deliver.

There is no doubt that this path will be rough and plagued in doubt, slander and inhumane expectation, but in the words best exalted by Obama himself in his victory speech: "Yes We Can". We can change this world if we want to and we will. We will take this man's example of humilty, hard work, honesty, class, patience and integrity and fuel our own locomotive of dreams and goals and achieve them because anything is possible. My president is black; my president is me; my president is you; my president is all of us; my president is America. So from here forth, I would hope everyone mentions the prefix correctly and realized that this is no longer Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, but rather President Barack Hussein Obama.

Holy Lord Jesus in the heavens located in the skies! Clay Aiken has confirmed that he is a homosexual and I have never in my entire human years have been so shocked. This was about as shocking as the token black guy dying in a scary movie (with exception to Taye Diggs who survived in "House on Haunted Hill", but I'm sure we can all dispute his black-ness lol).

This so called "announcement" has led me to this conclusion: people need to STOP making incredibly obvious news sound as if it is so momentous. What's next? I don't believe I've respected David Letterman anymore than this right here. Not only is he correct because I am a staunch Obama supporter, but he's correct on all terms of his argument. If we have a presidential candidate who runs away from a debate simply because of the "economic crisis," it is safe to say that he is not well aquaunted with a little skill called: "multi-tasking". Mccain is proving with his own actions that he is not prepared to be the face of this country, especially since he and his dull-witted running mate are far too concerned with bashing Obama, so much so, that I still don't truly know what he stands for besides another Bush-like presidential term.

Obama, on the other hand, has not only stated that he will still be present at the debate, but if Mccain does not show, he will take questions from the audience, phonecalls, and answer questions from the panel. If that's not dedication and leadership...then someone tell me what it is.
